MUSEUM OF UMBRIA
Piazza Giordano Bruno, 10
Set up in 1948 in the convent of San Domenico, the collection began to take shape in the late 18th century thanks to the donation and purchase of materials from archaeological digs performed mostly in the region.
The museum is divided into sections dedicated to the prehistoric/protohistoric eras and to the Etruscan-Roman period, with objects from the Palaeolithic era to the 3rd century A.D. and various collections of amulets.
In addition to objects used in everyday life or funerary objects, the museum houses a vast array of funerary urns in travertine, unique objects crafted during the Hellenistic era in Perugia, and the famous "Cippus of Perugia", one of the most important documents of the Etruscan language.
An evocative reconstruction of the Cai Cutu Etruscan tomb (3rd-1st century B.C.) is set up in the museum's lower level, with funerary objects arranged in their original position.
