PALACE
via Podiani, 11
Located in the city’s historic centre, just a short distance from the southern bastion of the Rocca Paolina fortress, Palazzo della Penna is a noble 16th-century residence that testifies to the building’s architectural stratifications of the Etruscan-Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, Neo-Classical and contemporary ages. The museum hosts a multifarious exhibition of works from the Baroque period (“The Martinelli Collection”) with important pieces such as the model of a Cristo ligato (Christ Bound) by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The “Gerardo Dottori Collection” includes numerous masterpieces from the Umbrian futurist master, such as the City Fire and Triptych of speed. The "Beuys in Perugia" section, with six large slates created in 1980, encapsulate the aesthetic theories of this great German artist.
