SAN SEVERO CHAPEL

Next to the Church of San Severo, built in the mid-1700's over another pre-existing church dating back to the 11th century, is a chapel that houses the only fresco by Raphael that has remained in Perugia.

The painting, commissioned by the bishop Troilo Baglioni, depicts the Saints Mauro, Placido, the martyr Benedetto and Giovanni the monk, next to the Trinity. The upper part of the wall was frescoed around 1505 while the lower part, left incomplete by Raphael, was completed in 1521 by Perugino.
Located in the centre of the wall is a Madonna with Child in terracotta, an anonymous work that can be dated back to the late 15th to the early 16th century.
