The headquarters of the Exchange Guild was built by Bartolomeo di Mattiolo and Lodovico di Antonibo between 1452 and 1457 in a new wing of the Palazzo dei Priori palace. Today, it is accessible from a long and narrow room known as the Sala dei Legisti since it became their official headquarters in the early 1600's. The next room,  the Sala delle Udienze, is one of the finest examples of Renaissance art. 

The interior wooden furnishings are by Domenico del Tasso (1491-1500) and the wood doors are by Antonio Bencivenni (1501). The walls are adorned by a masterpiece fresco painting by Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino, and his various collaborators (1496-1500).

In the adjacent Chapel of San Giovanni, the wooden works are attributed to Bencivenni (c. 1509) and the paintings are by Giannicola di Paolo (1513-1529).
